Wild Geese play two games in Wheatfield Prison
The Wild Geese played a two games series in the Wheatfield Prison in west Dublin. The games were organised by the Solas Project, a charity dedicated to the rejuvenation of communities in Ireland that have social and education disadvantages.
In the first game, the Wild Geese went 3-0 behind, but their extra experience allowed them to crawl back into the game for a 4-3 extremely fortunate win. The second match was won by one goal by the prisoners meaning the series ended in a draw.
The Wild Geese players were impressed by the polite manner, enthusiasm, and team work of the young prisoners - they did not match the stereotypes of how prisoners are often depicted.
