Northsiders 2 : 3 Wild Geese
Martin Tormey first to ball
The double-d effect drove the Wild Geese to a come-from-behind victory over the Northsiders. Dadie scored one and made two, and the Geese defence snuffed out the youthful opposition attack. The concession of two early goals seemed to send the Wild Geese defence on an advanced learning curve - in the second half they soaked up everything an increasingly desperate Northsider team threw their way
Five minutes minutes from the kickoff, the Northsiders knocked a long ball over the Geese defence - the speedy attacker controlled the ball well and Andy Fleming had no chance of saving. Ironically, the Northsider defence would soon concede a similiar goal. A long ball from Oliver Tormey flew over every Northsider opponent, and Dadie mastered the football into the penalty area and danced past the keeper. But this clinical response was quickly undone when confusion in the new look Geese defence allowed the Northsiders to slip in another goal.
Anto and Andy keep Northsiders out
The arrival of Aidan O'Looney on the field had an instant impact. Dadie showed great vision and timing to cut-open the Northsider off-side trap and find O'Looney making the perfect run. Though it was still a tight angle, O'Looney just doesnt miss from those kind of positions. 2-2
With twenty minutes to go, Dadie fought his way into the penalty area and his powerful drive accros the penalty area was met by an explosive Garcia volley. It was an unstoppable goal. It was the Geese at their very best.
The Norhtsiders pushed men forward. But Anto Saul and Neil Murray put in a commanding second half performance - it was brave and intelligent, and regularly they were seen to shape the players in front of them. Goodwin, Benech, Fleming and Marseilles also made several crucial interceptions, as the Northsiders tried frantically to get an equaliser. It wasn't to be, and the Geese had won two-in-a-row.
