Glee 2 : 1 Wild Geese

Emmet Gorman and John Conroy

Emmet Gorman and John Conroy worked hard but Glee too strong

The conditions were steamy, and the opposition were of high standard, but the Geese came close to pulling off a famous result. Glee Rovers are second in the table and have been already promoted to the new elite division of the Interfirms astro league, but the Wild Geese didnt seem out of place against such strong opposition. Despite conceding an early goal, the Geese worked hard. Saul, Goodwin and Joye put in numerous tackles and Lane made many good saves. John Conroy almost equalised with a long range but powerful shot which the Glee keeper was only able to parry.

Martin McAdam's excellent corner found Oliver Tormey who forced another save from the Glee keeper. The Geese fans sensed something was up, and they were right - Saul opened up the Glee defence, finding Tormey who blasted to the right of the Glee keeper.

Glee worked hard and constantly came forward but didnt make any inroads. Emmet Gorman worked hard to track all runners. But the pressure was too much, especially during an unusally hot Dublin evening and Glee managed to go back into the lead

Good performance for the Wild Geese which augurs well for the new season
