Geese try hard but lose openner

The Geese worked hard in Dublin last night against a strong MOP side, but despite having as much possession they lacked the penetration of their opponents. MOP scored early, their striker blasting from a low corner kick. But the Geese were soon back on level terms after man of the match Dave O'Donoghue made a break and crossed to Malcolm Lane who coolly finished

The Geese defence kept MOP a bay for long periods, but the goal was always on the cards. A break on the right side of midfield found a free attacker who scored from close distance. As the Geese pushed forward in hope of an equaliser, MOP scored a late counter attacking goal

Wild Geese:  D.Nagle, M.Lane, O.Tormey, A.Saul, M.McAdam, J.Conroy, J.O'Keeffe, N.Murray, D'O'Donoghue

Goals: M.Lane (1)
