Elite Athletes: Tormey, Fahey, and McCarthy

The physical fitness regimen at the Wild Geese camp means the team is prepared for extreme physical challenges. Such high level of fitness comes from sacrifice and the direction of a highly motivated Coach - in this case Lenny McCarthy.

McCarthy, will compete in the 2009 Triathlone in Athlone on Saturday.
He has been in intense training for this type of event.........

Negotiations take toll on CEO Connolly

Wild Geese CEO Steven Connolly was involved in late night discussions to save his much vaunted kit sponsorship deal. Just three weeks away from launching its new jersey, Wild Geese FC might not even receive their first kit after its supplier Canterbury Europe Ltd was placed into administration yesterday in Britain.

The Wild Geese ended an eleven-match losing streak by recovering to draw 3-3 with the North Siders on Thursday

Harrison and Fahey in happier times

PERUGIA, Italy — Andrew Harrison is keeping his Wild Geese team's Triathalon rivals guessing by refusing to officially endorse Dublin ace Fergus Fahey as their definitive team leader. Question marks hang over the relationship between the two. Fahey has openly questioned Harrison's unorthodox training methods, but Harrison has been slow to acknowledge the recent successes of his team mate.

"We're trying to keep it open a litle bit," said Harrison when asked if training.........

Some day Dave McMahon will get the credit he deserves. Perhaps it will be when he is gone from the North Siders. He controlled swirl of the North Siders' attacking on Thursday night and McMahon's primary role in assembling both the personnel involved and instilling in them a philosophy that embraces risk and beauty with the overlooked genius of common-sense defending.

The Geese never recovered from three early goals. Paul Kavanagh could do nothing to stop their penetrating play. "We can say that this night was our night," said a satisfied McMahon.

There was no lack of effort from the Geese........
